SRINAGAR A man and his mother have been booked for impersonating a leading doctor of SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura here on social media to seek donations in a fictitious patients name, officials said Tuesday.
Crime Branch Kashmir registered a case punishable U/s 420 RPC, 66-(D) I.T Act for preparing a fake Facebook account in the name of Dr. Gull Javid of SKIMS Soura and having up-loaded fake post regarding kidney failure of a patient and receiving donations/charity from general public, according to a statement.
Crime Branch had received a complaint that the Facebook page was seeking donations for a kidney failure patient Asif Rasool resident of Batmaloo.
During investigation it came to fore that there was no such patient and that Dr. Gull Javid was not running any such page on Facebook .
Bank account nos 1112040100003665 and 111204010003649 mentioned in the fraud Facebook page were being operated in the name of Asif Nabi Dar and Ameena Bano, both residents of Samboora Pulwama, at J&K Banks Polo-View branch in Srinagar.
Both the accounts were being constantly credited since long with donations ranging from Rs. 20 to 10,000 by unsuspecting people .
A huge amount had been credited in these accounts, which was being withdrawn on regular basis to ensure zero balance.
The accused Asif Nabi in league with his mother Ameena Bano fraudulently and deceitfully received lacs of rupees, the statement said.
