POONCH Two youth were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident near Poshana Ratta Chamb along the Mughal Road- connecting the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region with South Kashmir’s Shopian district. Reports said that the vehicle (Tata Mobile JK12-1129) skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge near Poshana Ratta Chamb along the Mughal road today late in the afternoon.
The mishap took place when the vehicle was moving towards Mendhar from Shopian.
Incharge Station House Officer (SHO) Showkat Amin said that soon after the mishap, a joint team of police and armys 16 RR launched the rescue operation and retrieved the two persons from the gorge.
He said that both the persons were taken to a nearby health facility where doctors declared them brought dead on arrival.
The officer identified the deceased as Nazakat Ali son of Mohd Taj (23) of and Mushtaq Ahmad (22) son of Mohd Sharief, both residents of Behra Mendhar.
A case under relevant sections of law was registered and further investigations taken up, he said.
