SRINAGAR A PDP activist who was injured in a suspected militant attack on May 8 in Zainapora area of south Kashmirs Shopian district succumbed to wounds at SKIMS Soura here on Thursday.
Director SKIMS Dr Omar Javed said that Irfan Ahmad son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh of Zainapora succumbed at the facility before dawn.
He said Irfan had firearm injury in his right thigh and was being treated in SICU. However, today he expired during pre-dawn hours, he added.
On May 8, Irfan along with another person namely Muzafar Ahmad Bhat were injured after a group of suspected militants kidnapper them from their pharmacy and fired upon them at an orchard.
A case under FIR number 25/2019 under section 307 and 364 RPC has been registered and further investigations were taken up, a police spokesman had said.
The duo was workers of PDP and remained as polling agents in Zainapora on May 6 Lok Sabha elections.
Both the injured were later admitted to SKIMS Soura for treatment.
Meanwhile, PDP Chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the killing of Irafn.
PDP worker Irfan Ahmad all of 21, a first time voter & an upcoming cricketer succumbed to his injuries today. An only son of ailing parents, he supported them by running a pharmacy, Mehbooba tweeted.
Killing someone for their political affiliation is unacceptable. His martyrdom wont be in vain, said Mehbooba in the tweet.
