SRINAGAR Militants managed to escape after gunfight with government forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A police official said that the search operation is going on at Kujar where the militants and government forces exchange brief gunfire.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in Drabgam village of south Kashmirs Pulwama district after govermment forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO).
Reports said youth took to streets and clashed with the government forces after the CASO was launched.
Eyewitnesses said that a group of locals resorted to stone-pelting to disrupt the CASO.
However, the government forces responded by lobbing teargas shells to disperse the protesting youth.
An official said that police, army and CRPF had jointly launched the operation following specific inputs about the presence of militants there.
