JAMMU Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik Monday ordered that a team be constituted to ensure that students from the valley, who had returned home after the Pulwama attack, go back to their respective education institutes across the country.
The team of officers from the J-K government would hold consultations with the managements of the educational institutions of Dehradun and Uttrakhand and other states where a large number of students from Kashmir are studying, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
The team would look into various issues like safety of the students, timely completion of courses, matters relating to attendance and missed lectures by the students.
“After reviewing the whole scenario, the team will submit a report to the Governor about the overall situation including steps being taken to ensure safe return of the students and catching up with scheduled academic calendar of the respective educational institutions,” the official said.
Fearing for their safety, several students from Kashmir had returned home in the valley after 40 CRPF personnel died in a suicide bombing attack on February 14 in Pulwama district.
Mobs had targeted Kashmiri students and businessmen in several states following the attack, prompting widespread condemnation from political parties and civil society groups in Kashmir.
The matter was brought to the notice of Supreme Court which had directed the Centre to ensure the safety of Kashmiris living outside valley.
