SRINAGAR One person was arrested for stealing a laptop from a doctor at the SMHS Hospital here, police said Thursday, raising fears that a group of thieves may be on the prowl at the healthcare facility.
Police station Karanagar received a written complaint from Dr. Yasmeena stating therein that her laptop (Mac Book Air) was stolen from SMHS hospital. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 12/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Karan Nagar and investigation was taken up, a police spokesman said.
Officers while investigating the case got to know that two persons are roaming in HMT Chowk with one laptop and are going to sell it at low cost. Officers arrived at spot and nabbed one person namely Muzamil Ahmad Malik son of Bashir Ahmad Malik resident of HMT Chowk along with the laptop. When officers spoke to him, he confessed to the crime and revealed the name of another accomplice involved in the theft of laptop. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, several attendants Kashmir Observer spoke to expressed concern over the incident and urged police to bust the gang of thieves.
