JAMMU Principal Secretary Transport, Animal Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Tuesday directed the Motor Vehicle Department to hold camps for regular eyesight check-up of commercial drivers to minimize accidents.
The Principal Secretary was speaking at a meeting he chaired here today. The meeting was attended by IGP Traffic Alok Kumar, DG Budgets Muhammad Yaqoob Yatoo, Director State Motor Garages Zakir Hussain Choudhary, RTO Jammu Deep Raj and other concerned officers.
RTO Kashmir Ahmudullah Tak, and other officers of the Kashmir region participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
He directed the officers to pace up the procurement of fitness checking equipment besides the purchase of bikes for field staff of Motor Vehicle Department and Traffic Police personnel deployed for law enforcement duty.
He asked the officers to arrange refresher driving courses for all commercial vehicle drivers which will include lessons on rules and regulations of traffic.
The Principal Secretary also emphasized on the maximum possible use of automation in the management of traffic and transport sector and directed strengthening of Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and its flawless functioning on the most urgent basis.
