KULGAM A sentry at Yaripora Police Station in south Kashmirs Kulgam district on Tuesday evening fired few rounds in the air after noticing some suspicious movement near the police station.
A police official said that at around 7:47 pm, a sentry posted at police station Yaripora fired few shots in the air after observing some suspicious movement.
A local resident, however, said that the firing lasted for several minutes and caused panic among the residents.
Meanwhile government forces launched a massive cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Aglar village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police officer said the CASO was launched following specific inputs about the presence of militants.
Reports said that the armys Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu & Kashmir police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Aglar village and started door-to-door searches.
They said the forces sealed all the entry and exit points of the village.
