SRINAGAR Militants on Sunday evening attacked an army camp in Ahgam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Suspected militants fired indiscriminately towards the camp of 44 RR camp in Ahgam. The fire was retaliated by army triggering off a brief exchange of firing, reported news agency GNS.
SSP Shopian Sandeep Chaudhary said that it was a stray firing by militants from a distance on 44RR camp. “The alert sentry retaliated .
The officer further said there was no loss of life or injury reported in this incident.
Meanwhile, militants managed to escape from the spot while taking advantage of darkness.
JeM claims UBL attack on army, CRPF camps in Shopain, Tral
Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has said it carried out an Under Barrel Launcher (UBL) grenade attack on Indian army camp at Aahgam in south Kashmirs Shopian district on Sunday.
A JeM spokesperson Mohammad Hassan in a statement issued to GNS said that the outfits men also attacked the forces with automatic weapons, resulting in serious injuries to several personnel.
The spokesperson also said that JeM carried out an Under Barrel Launcher (UBL) grenade attack on CRPF 180 bn at Nodal, Tral in south Kashmirs Pulwama district on Saturday.
He said the grenade blasted inside the camp resulting in serious injuries to several Indian forces.
