SRINAGAR In connection with celebration of 70th Republic-Day, functions were held across Kashmir Division on Saturday with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
At Pulwama, Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines, with great fervor and enthusiasm. Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Mohammad Dar unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Commandos, Homeguard and School children participated in the march past.
SSP Pulwama Chandan Kohli and other officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of Republic Day and threw light on the various developmental activities and achievements in various sectors including Education, Agriculture, Horticulture and R&B in the district.
The DDC thanked people of the district for their cooperation and coordination in various developmental achievements in the District
At Kulgam, the main function was held at District Police Lines, where Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past.
Contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKP ladies Police group, District Police band, Home Guards, NCC cadets and platoons of boys and girls from different government and private educational institutions participated in the march past.
At Budgam, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar took salute at march past and unfurled the national flag at the main function which was held at Sports Stadium Budgam. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Home Guards, NCC and school students participated in the march past parade.
Former Minister Javed Mustafa Mir, SP Budgam, Amod Ashok Nagpure, ADDC Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, ADC Budgam Khurshid Ahmad Shah and senior officers of the district attended the function, besides large gathering of locals.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Budgam, while highlighting the importance of the Republic Day, said that the district administration is committed to the overall development of its people.
She said that the Government has sanctioned projects worth Rs 234 crores and shortly these works will be taken up. She said these projects include 19 bridges, 4 roads with cost of Rs 53 crores.
Further the DC called upon all citizens to coordinate with the administration and contribute in making the district more prosperous and progressive.
On the occasion, different cultural programmes were also presented by school students who mesmerised the audience with their scintillating performances.
On the occasion, awards were given to various employees for their meritorious services.
Meanwhile the day was also celebrated with nationalist fervour at Sub division and Tehsil levels of the district.
At Bandipora, the main function was held at SK Stadium Bandipora where Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary unfurled the national flag and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of JK Police, JKAP, BSF, CRPF, NCC Cadets and students of various schools.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of the Day and also presented a detailed report on developmental front.
He said the recent Municipal and Panchayat elections were a major step towards strengthening the democracy at grass root level that will open a new chapter of development in the state.
While presenting the performance of the district administration during the current financial year so far, Dr Choudhary said 2018-19 will be remembered as a golden period of the district with major projects seeing the light of the day.
He said One Stop Centre (OSC)- providing an array of services, from skill development to psychological assistance to violence affected women under one roof is all set to start functioning in Bandipora district from next month and various posts have been advertised for contractual appointment of the staff for the OSC.
Similar functions were also held at Sub-District Level at Sumbal and Gurez besides at Tehsil Headquarters.
At Anantnag, the main function was held at Government Degree College (Boys) Khanabal, where the Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the Parade.
Contingents of 40th Bn CRPF, 11th Bn JKAP, JKP (District Police) DPL Anantnag, District Ladies Police, J&K Home Guards, District Police Band (DPL), NCC cadets, school children from various Govt. and private educational institutions and District Police Band participated in the March Past Parade.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, said that Indian constitution has guaranteed rights to its citizens like right to religion, education and right to democracy.
The DC on the occasion congratulated the people of the district, Police and other security forces for maintaining peace and normalcy in the district to enable district administration to conduct free fair and transparent ULB and Panchayat elections.
The DC, Anantnag further highlighted the role of various departments taking the district to new heights of the development. He said that under Annual District Plan 2018-19, Rs 199.5 crore were sanctioned and earmarked for various sectors.
The best performers in March Past, cultural programmes, dance and drama were awarded with trophies, and consolation prizes.
The function was attended by all district and sectoral officers and employees of all departments and general public.
At Ganderbal, District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla unfurled the National Flag at Madre Meharban Stadium here today.
The DDC took salute at the march-past, presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, PTS Manigam, Home Guards, besides, school children from various educational institutions presented scintillating and colourful cultural items including traditional folk and patriotic songs.
The DDC said district Ganderbal has done remarkable work in implementation of schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, skill development program for girls, Ayushman Bharat and Swatch Bharat Mission with respect to other districts of the state.
Trophies and cash prizes were also distributed among students who showed remarkable performances in recently declared 10th/12th results by JKBOSE.
At Baramulla, a grand function was organized at District Police Lines here with District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash as the Chief Guest.
GOC 19 Infantry Division Major General Gulaab Singh Rawat, DIG North, Kashmir Atul Goyal, DIG CRPF, SSP Baramulla, ADC Baramulla, ACR,President Municipal Council Baramulla, officers from Civil, Police and Army besides a huge gathering of people was present on the occasion.
The DDC hoisted the tricolor, inspected the Parade and took salute at the March Past presented by the contingents of District Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Service and School children.
A Prize distribution ceremony was held, wherein awards were presented to the schools for their best performance in March Pasts and Cultural presentation. Officers were also given awards for their excellent works in different fields.
Meanwhile, functions in connection with the Republic day celebration were held across the district at Sub-Divisional and Tehsil levels.
At Kupwara, the main function was held at District Police Lines Kupwara, where District Development Commissioner, Khalid Jahangir hoisted the tricolor, inspected the Parade and took salute on the March Past presented by the contingents of District Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Service and School children.
Highlighting the importance of Republic Day, DDC emphasized on promoting national integration, communal harmony and peace. He also highlighted that District has shown tremendous growth in various sectors viz Education, Health, Horticulture, rural development etc and various schemes have been successfully implemented in the district. He said that Baramulla- Kupwara- Chowkibal – Chamkote Road has been approved for widening. Moreover he said that tunnel at Sadna will reduce the distance and travelling time between Kupwara and Srinagar drastically.
At Kargil, the 70th Republic Day was celebrated with immense patriotic zeal and gaiety. Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan hoisted the national tricolor at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium and took salute at march past by the contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police, NCC, Army and civil band besides a number of contingents of government and private educational institutions.
Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Aga Syed Mujtaba, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal, Superintendent of Police Dr Vinod Kumar, Councillors, district officers besides the representatives of various political, social and religious organisations were also present on the occasion.
At Shopian, 70th Republic Day was celebrated across district with great vehemence and national spirit. Celebrations were held at district headquarters, Sub-Division, Zainpora and at all tehsil headquarters. The main function was held at District Police Lines where chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Owais Ahmad hoisted tricolour and took salute of the March past.
Contingents of JKAP, JK Executive Police, JK FPF, Home Guards and Fire & Emergency besides the contingents of students from government schools took part in the March past.
Present on the occasion were Additional District Development Commissioner Mohammad Salim Malik, ADC Shabir Bhat, SSP Sandeep Choudhary, Addl. SP Arif Shah, ACR Majid Jahangir, senior Officers of Army and CRPF and district officers of all the departments.
