Srinagar: It was on January 22, 1992 Sirajuddin Farooqi was picked up by BSF personnel along with his brother in-law Fayaz Ahmad Zargar from Jamia Masjid area.
Fayaz Ahmad was later set free but Sirajuddin, father of two, never returned.
While Fayaz is brother of Al-Umar chief Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Sirajuddin is his brother-in-law.
His wife says they both, along with their children were visiting her parents in Jamia Masjid area when BSF raided the house and picked up her husband and elder brother.
Fayaz Zargar was released after 45 days, family said. However, Sirajuddin was not released despite pleas from the family.
BSF has refused to furnish any details about Sirajuddin’s whereabouts, they said.
Family has urged State Human Rights Commission and other human rights bodies to help trace Sirajuddin or at least persuade the BSF authorities to furnish details whether he is dead or alive.
