SRINAGAR A paramilitary CRPF soldier who was injured in a gunfight at Aripal Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on January 5 has succumbed to injuries at AIIMS in New Delhi.
The 39-year-old trooper namely Mahesh Kumar Meena was injured in the gunfight as lone militant managed to flee. Besides CRPF, army’s 42 RR and SOG had launched a cordon and search operation at Aripal area of Tral following which the gunfight had started.
Guv Lauds Army-Police Cooperation
Jammu: Lt. Gen. J.S. Nain, GoC 9 Corps, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday and briefed him about the security situation in the Jammu region.
Governor appreciated Armys cooperation with the State Police and other State Government agencies involved in dealing with forces which are detrimental to peace and security of the country, an official spokesman said.
