SRINAGAR Days after IAS officer Shah Faesal resigned from the service, Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday expressed disappointment over his action and said that he could serve people better by continuing on the post rather than politician.
Malik said Faesal was an efficient and dedicated officer who rendered his services with great zeal and enthusiasm for the welfare of the state and its people particularly those belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
The Governor also said that Faesal could deliver better as an officer rather than as a politician.
As far as his feelings about Kashmiris are concerned, he could be posted in the region for extending his fullest support in ameliorating the poverty and creating job opportunities for the youth of the valley so that people would be prosperous and would lead a better life, the governor said in a statement.
He has to consult the youth to know their aspirations and try to create a new platform for the redressal of problems and grievances of youth, the Governor said.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar on Friday, Faesal had said that he wants to put across a small act of defiance through his resignation.
I am protesting against lack of credible political initiative by the central government. It is important that right to life of Kashmiri people are respected, he said.
Faesal said the culture of undermining the institutions like the CBI and the RBI are part of the provocations that have resulted in his decision.
