SRINAGAR The government forces on Wednesday claimed to have busted a militant hideout during a search operation in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police source said that a hideout located in Badriwan forest area of Awantipora was busted by the forces today morning.
The area is close to Beighpora, which is the native village of top Hizb commander Riyaz Naikoo.
Earlier, reports said that the search operation was launched by a joint party of the army, police and the CRPF following inputs about the presence of militants in the hideout.
Authorities had snapped the internet services in the police district as there were apprehensions about the possibility of an encounter. Last week, six militants were shot dead by the forces in their hideout in Arampora area of Tral.
