SRINAGAR Two army officers were killed in a sniper attack by Pakistan army along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday late afternoon.
An official said that Pakistan army in violation of ceasefire opened the sniper fire upon the armys 2/8 GR posts in Jumgund area along the LoC.
Two army officers suffered serious injuries in the attack and were immediately evacuated to military hospital Drugmulla where one of them, Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Subidar Gamar Thapa (42) succumbed to injuries, they said.
The other injured, Junior Commissioned officer Subidar Raman Thapa was later referred to armys 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
A senior army officer confirmed the death of both JCOs even as he said further details with regard to the incident would be shared later.
