JAMMU Two Army personnel were killed and as many injured in an accidental blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir today, an officer said.
A landmine exploded near the anti-infiltration obstacle system when an Army column was on patrol duty along the LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district late this afternoon, the officer said, quoting preliminary information.
The condition of one of the injured is stated to be critical, the Army spokesperson said.
Official sources blast took at Samwan Chaprial area in the sector, leading to the instant death of Surjeet Singh of Armys 10 Gadwal, Lance Naik Suraj Singh Bhakuni of Armys 8 Kumaon. The injured, identified as Naik Sandeep Kumar Singh of armys 8 Raj Rifle, has been shifted to hospital.
Confirming the incident, a police official said that inquest proceedings have been initiated by Police after registering a case at Police station Khour.
