SRINAGAR Gurpurab, the birthday of 1st Guru of Sikhs, Guru Nanak Dev, was on Friday celebrated throughout the state with traditional religious fervour and enthusiasm.
People belonging to the Sikh community, attired in colourful dresses, paid obeisance at Gurdwaras. The main function was held at Gurdwara Chatipadshahi in old citys Rainawari area while as the Amira Kadal Gurdwara also witnessed heavy rush of devotees.
Reports from Jammu said that hundreds of devotees including men, women and children paid obeisance at various Gurdwaras, which were illuminated and decorated with colourful buntings.
Attired in colourful dresses, members of the Sikh community, including women and children,thronged Gurudwaras, religious congregations and offered special prayers on the occasion.
The main function was held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, situated in the heart of the city.
Thousands of Sikhs from different parts of the city and outskirts visited the Gurudwara to join the prayers.
Meanwhile, special langar were also organised for the devotees in the Gurudwaras
