PULWAMA Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a militant, allegedly involved in looting of weapons from PDP MLAs residence along with SPO deserter earlier this year.
At a Naka Checkpoint, an active militant of militant outfit (Hizb-ul-Mujahideen) identified as Rafeeq Ahmed Bhat alias Salahuddin Bhai son of Mohammad Ashraf of Achan Pulwama was apprehended by (government) forces along with arms and ammunition which includes one AK 47 rifle, two magazines, 40 live rounds and other incriminating materials. He had joined the outfit in September this year, a police spokesman said.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Litter, Pulwama and investigation has been initiated, he said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that he was involved in looting of weapons from the residence of MLA Wachi in Srinagar, the spokesman added.
