SRINAGAR Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, Friday convened a meeting to take stock of arrangements being made for the celebrations of Eid-e-Milad in the division.
The biggest congregation of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) will be held at Hazratbal shrine. A large number of devotees are expected to throng Jenab Sahib Soura and Asar Sharief Kalashpora in Srinagar.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the officers for providing all the requisite facilities including safe drinking water, sanitation, medicare facilities as well as critical care ambulances, un-interrupted power supply, heating arrangements and adequate transport facilities. Baseer called upon putting in place proper parking facilities and deploying adequate number of fire tenders as well as the installation of CCTVs on the Milad days.
He also directed for conducting safety drills around the shrines where large congregations are expected as well keeping ready snow clearance machines at the venues. He asked DDCs to setup a control room and depute nodal officers in their respective offices so that people get information regarding the festival. He also called for intensive market checking to keep a tab on black marketing, profiteering, and hoarding.
To ensure proper lighting at the places of worship, Baseer directed for making available additional facilities of diesel generator sets at Hazratbal shrine. He also called upon SMC authorities to ensure proper sanitation measures at the sanctum sanctorum and instructed the Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar to establishing 5 medical camps at the shrine.
The Divisional Commissioner enjoined upon the authorities of FCS&CA for providing sufficient quota of rice, flour and sugar to the people.
He directed the RTO to ensure round-the-clock transport services to the devotees especially during night hours across the valley.
The Divisional Commissioner enjoined upon the Traffic Department to streamline the traffic arrangements to facilitate the devotees and ensure better transport facilities and route plan across the Valley.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Director FCS&CA, CEO Waqaf Board, Chief Engineer PHE, Joint Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Controllers of LMD, Metrology & Food Safety, Superintending Engineers of PHE and PDD, Senior Superintendent of Police Security, Superintendent of Police Traffic, Superintendent of Police Hazratbal, Deputy Director Health Services, SE LAWDA, members of Waqaf Board and other officers whereas District Development Commissioners of Leh, Kargil, Anantnag, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam participated in the meeting through video Conferencing.
Farooq Takes Stock Of Milad Arrangements
Former chief minister and National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, on Friday took stock of the forthcoming Eid Milad arrangements.
He also offered Friday prayers at Hazratbal shrine and prayed for peace and prosperity in the state.
Srinagar MP also took stock of the Eid Milad arrangements at the shrine and impressed upon the administration to ensure all facilities to the devotees.
NC president also paid tributes to Shah Asrar ud din Baghdadi (RA) on the eve of ongoing Urs celebrations at his shrine in Kishtawar. While paying tributes to the revered saint, he said, The state of Jammu and Kashmir has been a cradle of Sufis and sages. The state owes the age-old tradition of tolerance to such great personalities. I express my heartfelt greeting to the people of Kistawar in particular and the people of state in general on the Urs of Shah Sahib (RA).
I take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Kishtawar for maintaining communal bonhomie during the most trying times, he said.
National Conference MLC Sajad kichloo and senior leader Khalid Najeeb Suharwardi have also greeted the people on the Urs of Asrar ud din Wali (RA).
Meanwhile Farooq paid glowing tributes to Sir Muhammad Iqbal on his birth anniversary. NC president in his message said that Alama will be always remembered. He was a great philosopher, poet and thinker. Sher-e-Kashmir had long association with the celebrated poet and both were concerned about the pathetic condition of Kashmiris under the then autocratic regime.
Party general secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar, additional general secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani have also paid tributes to Dr Iqbal on his birth anniversary describing him as an icon for the generations to come.
