SRINAGAR The forest department has started supply of firewood to around 1300 mosques of Srinagar city from November 1 on subsidized rates and the department has already stocked 45,000 quintal firewood at P.C. depot Srinagar.
Chief Conservator Forests (CCF), Kashmir, Farooq Gillani visited P.C. depot and took stock of the firewood supplies for Masjids of Srinagar city. During his visit DFO Urban forestry division, Srinagar, informed CCF Kashmir that besides Masjids about 10,000 quintal of firewood is being supplied to the artisans of Kashmir like paper machie and khatamband unit holders.
In addition to this about 3000 quintals of firewood has already been supplied for other religious purposes during this season. As many as 4200 quintals of firewood have already been dispatched to Ladakh region through State Forest Corporation.
The CCF was accompanied by Conservator of Forests, DFOs of the department during the visit.
