SRINAGAR Sardar Khalid Ibrahim, a veteran politician from Pakistan controlled Kashmir passed away on Sunday. He was 70.
Sardar Khalid was President of Azad Kashmir chapter of Pakistan People’s Party and member of AJK Legislative Assembly.
He breathed his last at a hospital in Islamabad where he was admitted following a brain haemorrhage a couple of days back.
He is survived by his widow, two sons and two daughters.
Sardar Khalid was the son of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, founder President of Azad Jammu Kashmir government which he helped set up in Rawalpindi on 24-Oct-1947.
Sardar Khalid Ibrahim was known for his principled stand in politics and was considered a forceful voice for democracy in AJK Assembly. He was elected to the AJK Assembly thrice during his political career spanning over 35 years.
His funeral will be held at his native town Rawalakot on 5th Nov 2018.
Pakistan controlled Kashmir Govt has declared a public holiday in 5th Nov 2018 to mourn his death.
