SRINAGAR The first phase of the Panchayat elections in Srinagar will see just one from the total of five panchayat halqas going to polls here on November 17.
All other four halqas received a single nomination each from which members on 7 Panch constituencies were declared as elected unopposed. The election to the five panchayat halqas which are spread over 45 panchayat constituencies was scheduled this month. Out of these, only 8 have received nominations with 7 of them getting a single nomination, said an official.
As per officials Balhama B of the Khonmoh block comprising Khonmoh A, Khonmoh B, Khonmoh C and Balhama A halqas has recieved a single nomination each and the candidates were therefore declared as elected unopposed.
