SRINAGAR State government on Tuesday enhanced the income ceiling for the creamy layer of backward classes.
The State committee headed by Principal Secretary Finance Navin K Choudhary, cleared the proposal for enhancement of income slab ceiling for creamy layer among the socially and educationally backward classes under J&K reservation act and rules.
The Committee, which met at the office chambers of the Finance Secretary, cleared the proposal to enhance the threshold for creamy layer from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh as per the norm of the Government of India.
Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department, Hilal Parray, Secretary Social Welfare, Farooq Lone, Law Secretary, Abdul Majid Bhat, among other officers of allied departments attended the meeting.
