Social evils by definition according to website ask.com are issues which in one way or another affect the society and are often considered controversial or problematic in terms of moral values. Some of the most common social evils would be drug abuse, alcoholism, racism, organized crime, inequality and greed etc.
In my opinion addiction to social networking sites should be added to the definition. Indeed they are important tool of networking by which we are connecting to people in and around. For instance we get easy accesses to lovable ones and are acceptable and important to permissible limit. We get important contents and other stuff from it that is very useful. There are no doubts for its use and we should get updated to the technology and get more of it, but unfortunately now days it has become a social evil and had havoc consequences on the society, the state is suffering from social networking fever for last several years. It has become a place for chatting, having fun, gossiping and passing leisure.
Besides all of these, there are several incidences of cheating on people, harassing one another; bluffing etc. which sometimes results in conflicts, not only in children but it has taken control over the mature and influential youth. People in particular students use mobile phone all the time weather being at home, in school, school buses, colleges, class room, libraries, cafeteria, canteens, and gardens in and around the markets. Their eyes glued on screen for hours, physically and mentally not perfect. They are addicted to it like an alcohol to wine and that leads to long time ailments and sprains and people hardly found anytime without surfing social networking sites. Even they could not count the value of time, relation values, there parents and devote their most on time on social networking sites, loosing moral compass in wrong direction.
Youth who are the base of nation, who can change the world, could not waste there whole time on social networking sites which is now-a-days is easily available which ultimately get them addicted and hampers their future. Not only this, the evil has now shaped into political tool of exploitation, unwanted and unlawful relationship among young generation that too with fake identity, fake profiles and get exposed to vulgar activities. Many a times cases of exploitation get unnoticed, few incidents came limelight and shocking in electronic, print and social media indeed from local voices. Cyber bullying cases and spying ones life by nonserious people has taken advantage of it time to time. According to CBS news report, 42 % people have been a victim of cyber bullying and lost their lives. It is time to take strict note and act. People particularly childrens should refrain updating every single new thing which may harm their personal life and should limit their relationship to known identity or physical, face to face identity only. Indeed take extra caution to make relationship, friendship on social networking sites as the young minds are prone to errors. Parents should take a strong note of it and should restrict and limit their childrens accesses to permissible limit. In summary the reasons to pen down this issue is an attempt to raise awareness and provide a place for like-minded people to share their thoughts and concerns on this issues.
