SRINAGAR Three militants were killed and two army soldiers were injured in a gunfight at Laroo area of Kulgam in south Kashmir on Sunday morning.
A senior police officer said that the operation concluded resulting into the killing of three militants.
He said that the slain militants are locals and were affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.
He identified the trio as Zubair Lone son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Awhatoo Kulgam (JEM) active since 26/4/2018, Shahdil Tantray son of Abdul Rashid resident of Sudershanpora wangam Shopian and Yazil Makro son of Mushtaq resident of Arwani Anantnag.
Two soldiers also received injuries in the operation, he said.
He said that earlier the cordon-and-search operation was launched in the village following specific information about the presence of some militants.
At least ten persons are said to have suffered injuries during the clashes in forces action near the gunfight site.
Earlier in wee hours, the encounter broke out after a joint team of armys 9RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Laroo village. (With Inputs From GNS)
