SRINAGAR At least fifteen persons, including two women were injured after army men allegedly beat up inmates following an IED blast late Thursday night at Trichal area of Lassipora in south Kashmirs Pulwama district.
Seven soldiers were injured, three of them critically, in the blast which was triggered by militants when an armoured vehicle was crossing a bridge on Trichal-Lassipora road last night.
The residents alleged that soon after the blast, soldiers barged into their houses and thrashed them “ruthlessly”.
They said that, at least 15 residents including two women received injuries in the army action.
They said that many of the injured were shifted to district hospital Pulwama for treatment.
Besides beating the inmates, the soldiers smashed window panes of the houses and damaged the kitchen appliances besides cars parked in the locality, they said.
The ransacking and highhandedness by the Army triggered protests in the locality, they said.
The locals also staged protest against the army and demanded action. A delegation of locals also met deputy Commissioner Pulwama regarding the incident.
Army’s Srinagar based defense spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said they were ascertaining the facts regarding the incident.
SP Pulwama Chandan Kohli also said that the details with regard to the incident was being ascertained.
