SRINAGAR The 446-th annual Urs of Hazrat Baba Dawood Khaki (RA) was celebrated at Makhdoom Sahib shrine, Kohimaran hill, Saturday with religious fervour and enthusiasm.
The saint has to his credit many works; these include Virdul Murideen, Dastoorul Salikeen, Qasida Jalalia, Qasida Lamhiya. In Virdul Murideen, he quoted from over two hundred religious works and it is recited in the shrines and mosques of Kashmir. It is a compilation of 1362 verses in honour (manaqib) of his spiritual preceptor Hazrat Mehboob-ul-Alam Sheikh Hamza Makdoom (RA). Sheikh Dawood Khaki (RA) is rightly called the Imam Azam-i-Sani in Kashmir and he had travelled across Valley to relieve people of evils and myths.
The deceased saint was instrumental in guiding thousands on the path of spirituality and had a huge number of followers. He breathed his last on 3rd Safar 994 Hijri (1585 AD).
Scores of devotees including women and children thronged the shrine where special prayers were supplications were offered. On the occasion, religious scholars threw light on the teachings of Hazrat Baba Dawood Khaki (RA) and vowed to adopt them in their lives for success.
