SRINAGAR Thousands of mourners joined commemorative services on the occasion of martyrdom anniversary of lone survivor of Karbala massacre, Imam Sajjad al Zain-ul-Aabideen.
Largest public assembly was held at Shalimar in the city outskirts where thousands later joined a mourning procession which started from Arabal and culminated at Imambargah Gulshan Ali. Anjuman Shari Shaiyan President Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi addressed the gathering.
Aga Hasan said that revered Imam was beside his father right from the moment of his migration from Madina to Karbala.
“Imam Sajjad despite being extremely unwell followed the call of his father Imam Hussain (A.S.) when no one was left for his assistance on the day of Ashura. But Hazrat Zainab (S.A.) stopped him because he was the only male member of the family of Prophet (pbuh) left alive.

Another major procession was taken out in Mirgund where Ittehadul Muslimeen President Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari addressed the mourners. A big Zuljinah procession was later taken out from Mirchmar and it culminated at Imambargah Mirgund
