KULGAM Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kulgam has been closed for class work after it was occupied by Government Forces on Wednesday night after they were brought there for election duty.
Principal of the Institute, Muzafar Ahmed Shah alleged that police officials not only forcibly broke open the locks of over 10 rooms but also misbehaved with him on phone, a charge vehemently refuted by police.
According to Principal, a column of security force personnel along with police officials entered into the Institute on Wednesday at around 8 pm. They thrashed two watchmen Firdous Ahmed and Gulzar Ahmed when the duo refused to open the locks of the rooms. Both me and my Head Assistant refused to obliged them on phone. One of the police officers lost cool and abused me on the phone, Principal Muzaffar Ahmed Shah told news agency CNS.
He said that students protested against the closure of the Institute on Thursday, however, he amicable persuaded them to study at home till elections are over.
Reliable sources told CNS that the ITI officials in a closed door meeting with District Administration officials in Kulgam had made a commitment that he will provide the space for the Forces that will arrive in Kulgam for election duty.
When contacted, a top police official refuted the charges saying, he never misbehaved or called anyone. (CNS)
