SRINAGAR A day before constitution of a special investigation team, police questioned for three days PDP MLA from whose house at Jawahar Nagar Srinagar a special police officer decamped with seven AK-47 rifles and his licensed pistol last week
Official sources said that the police recorded MLA Aijaz Mirs statement in connection with the incident which occurred on Friday.
They said that the MLA who represents Wachi constituency of Shopian in state assembly was questioned on a wide range of issues as to how long he knows the SPO, Adil Bashir.
When contacted PDP legislator confirmed that he “recorded his statement” before the police.
He said that it was a breach of trust on part of the SPO who also hails from Zainapora, the hometown of the legislator. “I am myself shocked over the breach of trust (by the SPO). I have fully cooperated with the police and will cooperate in future (alluding to the possible call by SIT) if the need arises so as to enable the investigators to carry out the investigation,” he said.
The police constituted the special investigation team to investigate how the plan to loot weapons from the official residence of a legislator in Srinagar was executed by a special police officer.
The decamping incident has send the entire security establishment in Kashmir into a tizzy.
