SRINAGAR A non-local labourer of BEACON was killed in an alleged army firing in Kralpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district late last night.
Official sources said that the person died on the spot in army’s 3 JAK Li firing incident at Doninar area of Rangwar in Kralpora.
They said the incident occurred when the man was walking alongside the army camp.
The slain, they said, is believed to be a non-local labourer of Beacon and was working within the area for some time. Sources identified the deceased as Umesh of Tamil Nadu.
A police officer confirmed the incident and said that they are investigating the incident.
“Army has told us that the man was signalled to stop during an ambush late last night, however, the man tried to hide himself under the bushes,” the officer said.
The officer said that a case has been registered and investigations into the matter have been initiated.
Army’s Srinagar based defense spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that the details with regard to the incident are being ascertained.
