SRINAGAR Authorities have decided to suspend Internet in Sopore after nocturnal gunfight which broke out between militants and government forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last night.
Reports said that as off now no fresh exchange of firing is going on. The civilians are being evacuated from the Tujjar area where militants are believed to be hiding.
Meanwhile All educational institutions have been also closed for precautionary measures in Sopore.
Earlier a joint team of army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF laid a siege at Nowpora area of Tujjer in Sopore late last night.
They said that soon after the cordon was laid, the militants hiding in the area opened fire upon the forces triggering off a brief gunfight.
SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that some gunshots were heard during the cordon in the area.
He said that the operation is going on to trace out the militants. (GNS)
