SRINAGAR A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was injured in a militant attack Tuesday in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a police official said.
Militants opened fire on personnel at the CRPF camp at Newa in Pulwama, the official said.
The injured has been identified as CRPF jawan Moyeen Khan, he said.
The area has been cordoned off as other security agencies, including the Army, have joined the operation to track down the militants, the official said.
Meanwhile, Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack saying the outfit has started the process to avenge the killing of “commander Ali and other martyrs”.
“Our cadres carried out the sniper attack at 12:35 am and killed two CRPF men,” the spokesman said, adding this is beginning of the process to avenge the killing of commander Ali and other martyrs.” (With GNS inputs)
