SRINAGAR Director General Prisons, Dilbag Singh, Saturday convened a meeting to review the progress of prisoners rehabilitation programme underway in state prisons.
The DGP complimented the officers from Technical Education, Director School Education Kashmir, Director Social Welfare Department, Women Development Corporation, Health Department for rendering their services for running awareness, educational and skill development and rehabilitation programmes for the inmates of various Jails in the State.
It was noted with satisfaction that a large number of prisoners throughout the state have been benefitted from Adult Education, Computer Education, Beautician Course, Electrification and House Wiring and Jute Bag making schemes. The courses have improved their awareness and skill level.
Dilbag Singh said that these skills would help the prisoners re-integrate and rehabilitate in the society in a fruitful manner; earning respectable status and livelihood after their release from the Jail. It was also revealed that with these skill development trainings, the abilities of the prisoner within the jail for various works assigned to them have improved and brought them better dividend and earnings for their family.
