SRINAGAR Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday asked his cadre to be ready for an all-out agitation should the Article 35-A be, in any way, tampered with.
Mirwaiz in a Twitter post said no attempt will be tolerated to change the disputed nature and demographic character of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meeting of #Hurriyat (took place) at Rajbagh (office of the amalgam), regarding 35A. Any attempt to change demographic character of J&K and its disputed nature intolerable! (I) asked cadres and activists to be ready for all out mass agitation if any tinkering with 35A allowed, Mirwaiz wrote on his Twitter handle soon after a meeting held at amalgams Rajbagh office.
The Supreme Court of India will on August 6 hear the petitions challenging the validity of Article 35-A which defines the permanent residency for the original inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirwaiz also urged New Delhi to respond positively to PTI chief and Pakistan prime minister elect Imran Khan’s call for dialogue on Kashmir.
The meeting welcomed the recent statement of PTI chief Imran Khan calling for dialogue on #Kashmir. We urge Govt of India to respond positively to this offer and start a meaningful dialogue with Pakistan and people of Kashmir to end hostilities and give peace a real chance, Mirwaiz said.
Article 35A Row: Aga Hasan Asks People To Get United
Senior separatist leader and president Anjuman Shari Shian Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi while appealing people to observe complete shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership in support of Article 35A Tuesday said that any move to tinker with a state subject law will create a Palestine-like situation.
He asked the people to prepare for protests against any change in the law that bars people from outside Jammu and Kashmir from acquiring immoveable property in the state.
He urged the people of Kashmir to launch a mass agitation if the Supreme Court delivered a verdict in favour of pleas seeking the repeal of Article 35A. He said any effort to tinker with a state subject law will create a Palestine-like situation.
A conspiracy has been hatched to change the demography of the Muslim-majority state, he said and urged leadership to make people aware of the consequences if the state subject law was repealed. People from all corners of state will come on the roads and resist any attempt made to modify Article 35A, Aga Syed Hasan said.
