SRINAGAR The weather department on Saturday predicted moderate rainfall on July 23 and 24 but dismissed rumours of heavy rainfall in the Kashmir Valley.
Under the influence of (a low weather system developing in the area), (there is possibility) of fairly widespread rainfall with heavy at isolated places over Jammu division, moderate rainfall in Kashmir Division and light rainfall in ladakh Division during 22 and 23rd July 2018, Director meteorological department here, Sonam Lotus, said.
Since from past few day s a false rumour and panic has been created by the section of print and electronic media among the people that forecast of heavy to very rainfall has been given by the Meteorological dept. As of now, no such kind of forecast was issued by the department Since monsoon is active over north India, light to moderate rains over fairly widespread places can’t he ruled out during 22nd and 23rd July.
