SRINAGAR The Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) filed a charge sheet on Saturday against 10 officials, two of them now retired, of the state rural development department in a 4-year-old corruption case filed in Doda district.
The charge sheet against the officials including the then Executive Engineer (Rural Engineering Wing) Kishtwar Romesh Kumar and the then Block Development Officer Marwah Krishan Chand Sharma (both now retired) was filed in the court of special judge (anti-corruption), Doda, a spokesperson of the SVO said.
A case against the officials was filed in 2014 after an inquiry into 19 development works in Marwah block of Doda under various centrally-sponsored schemes during 2012-13 revealed misappropriation of over Rs 16.50 lakh.
The accuse include then Assistant Executive Engineer (REW) Rama Kant Sharma, then Technical Assistant Tariq Hussain Kichloo and then Junior Engineer Abdul Rashid Shah, the spokesperson said.
“After obtaining the sanction from the competent authority, the charge sheet was filed,” the spokesperson said, adding the court has fixed August 30 as the next date of hearing in the case.
