Govt Revokes Arms Licenses

SRINAGAR The state government on Saturday revoked all such Individual Arms Licences issued to various persons excluding the personnel belonging to the State Police, Army and CAPFs.

It also ordered that no fresh individual arms license shall be issued by the District Magistrate(s) of the State of Jammu and Kashmir

No fresh individual arms license shall be issued by the District Magistrate(s) of the State of Jammu and Kashmir in terms of section 14 (i)(b) (ii) of the Arms Act,1959, till further orders, reads an order issued by the government here. The District Magistrates of the State of Jammu and Kashmir shall take urgent steps to revoke all such Individual Arms Licences issued to various persons (excluding the personnel belonging to the State Police, Army and CAPFs), consequent to the notification of Arms Rules as do not meet all the conditions prescribed in Rule 11 and Ride 12 of the Arms Rules, 2016. Further, the District Magistrates shall direct att such persons, whose license is revoked, to deposit any arms or ammunition, with the officer in-charge of the nearest Police Station, in terms of Section 2I of the Arms Act, 1959, failing which action as warranted under law shall be initiated. This action shall be concluded within 15 days or issue of this order and compliance reported to the Home Department.

Further, all district magistrates shave been asked to ensure strict compliance with the provisions contained in the arms rule 2016 at the stage of renewal of an arms license.
