SRINAGAR The incarcerated chairman of Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir Masarat Aalam Bhat was on Saturday brought from Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu to Srinagar for the hearing of a case lodged against him in Police Station Nowhatta Srinagar.
A League spokesperson Sajjad Ayoubi in a statement issued to GNS said Aalam was produced on Saturday before Additional District and Sessions Judge where after hearing the arguments; the judge fixed the next hearing of the said case on 4 July 2018.
After hearing, Maasrat was taken back to Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu, he said adding that prolonging the illegal detention of the incarcerated leader showed the frustration of authorities.
He said Aalam has been implicated in fictitious cases and he continues to languish in jails, which is worst form of human rights violation.
Government instead of honouring the court orders is ignoring all norms and rules. Alam is being subjected to political vendetta, the spokesperson said, adding, The policy adopted by India through which Masarat sahib is being moved from one police station to another cannot break his will and courage.
The League spokesperson appealed the rights defender bodies including the Red Cross and Human Rights Watch to take note of the worst political revenge against Masarat Aalam and his illegal detention and asked them to play their role in this regard. (GNS)
