SRINAGAR A traffic cop was thrashed by a group of commuters when he chased after a young driver, forcing him to ram his vehicle into other vehicles.
The incident occurred at busy Residency Roads here in Kashmir capital Srinagar.
Eyewitnesses said that a traffic cop on duty tried to stop a vehicle, but when the young boy didnt stop, the cop chased the vehicle and pulled the key out when the vehicle was in motion. The driver lost the control and the vehicle rammed into other cars present at the scene.
The affected commuters came down from their vehicles and accused traffic cop for all the mess. They manhandled the cop and physically assaulted him. The intervention of passersby saved the cop from aggravating injuries.
A police official said that they have taken cognizance of the incident and action will be initiated against the guilty. (CNS)
