SRINAGAR Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia strongly refutes the news item in some local newspaper that our members were present in any meeting regarding some truce plan with the police officials. The story is completely baseless, and has no truth to it.
Certain trade-bodies from Shahr-e-Khas had met with police officials with their own concerns. In this meeting, no representative of Auqaf was present, the statement.
We would like to bring to the notice of the general public, that volunteers at Jamia Masjid conduct voluntary services of their own free will. They volunteer to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of prayers at the Jamia Masjid. This kind of volunteerism especially during Ramadan and other months at the Grand Mosque is a tradition for a long time, Auqaf said.
As far as any meeting with Jammu Kashmir police or with any authorities is considered, there has been no meeting or contact. We again reiterate that the story is completely baseless, they said.
We request the media fraternity to seek confirmations regarding any news items related with the Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid, they added. (KNS)
