JAMMU Five persons died and eight others were injured in an accident at Tapyal area of Samba district in Jammu region on Thursday night.
A police officer said that during the intervening night at 0200 hrs, one Innova No. DL4CAE-6465 (on way from Jammu towards Punjab) hit with Parapet at Tapyal, resulting into on spot death of five persons and injuries to eight others.
The official identified the deceased as Labpreet Singh (30) son of Sandu Singh (driver), Punnu (30) wife of Atras, Veena wife of Ram Paul, Geeta Devi (60) wife of Kashmira Lal and a minor baby (1) (Name Not Known).
He identified the injured as Rahul (23) son of Kashmira Lal, Atras (24) son of Vijay Masih, Raju (30) son of Yousaf Masih, Neetu (25) wife of Rahul and her two Children, Roop Singh (45) son of Sohan Singh and Monu (26) son of Ram Paul.
All the deceased and the injured belonged to Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The officer said that all the injured were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed shock and grief over the death of five persons in a road accident on Jammu-Kathua road today.
The Chief Minister has conveyed her sympathies to the families of those killed and prayed for their eternal solace.
