JAMMU Three persons, including a woman, were today killed and six others injured when a car ploughed into a group of pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh before hitting their parked bus alongside a highway in Jammu, police said.
The bus, on its way to the Vaishno Devi shrine, developed some technical snag and was being attended by its driver and a mechanic on the roadside near Sidhrah highway here when a speedy car allegedly skidded off the road and hit the pilgrims before crashing with the rear side of the vehicle, a police official said.
Some pilgrims were waiting outside the vehicle when the incident took place, he said.
He said two pilgrims Ramesh Chander (55) and Hira Lal (73) – and a local woman identified as Sita Devi (55) of Reasi district travelling in the car died on the spot, while six others were injured and were shifted to Government Medical College hospital for treatment.
The injured included driver of the car and his two sons, he said, adding their condition was stated to be “serious”.
