SrinagarThe ArmyWednesday foiled an infiltration bid by militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir, killing a militant in the process.
One soldier also died while two others were injured in the encounter.
Srinagar-based Defence PRO, Col Rajesh Kalia said troops guarding the LoC noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan-controlled- Kashmir (PcK) in Keran sector this morning under the cover of darkness.
When challenged and asked to surrender, the militants opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, he said.
A search operation is going on in the area, he added.
