In Kashmir use of wetlands for construction purposes has become a common phenomenon now. Be it erstwhile Nalahmar, Dood-Ganga and now Narkara wetland which is just two kilometres away from main Hyderpora with other water-bodies but this is no concern for the administration to take care of as it seems its own men are associated with the land mafia which include some top officials and politicians.
Paving way for the water is not the concern for the administration as it has its way to enter into the residential houses of poor like that of September 2014. First the government itself issues advisory and notifies the land prohibiting constructions near the wetlands but I wonder how the builders who in connivance with administration and SMC start over night earth filling and subsequent constructions.
Kashmir has been made a mess by the current BJP-PDP alliance and other vested interests whose double standards have adversely affected the people both economically and by making youth vulnerable. Bypass Hyderpora to Bemina and from Pantachok to Parimpora has become highly commercial but the irony is that they have been allowed to occupy the subways for use of different kind of materials like cars, furniture, timber and old cars for sale and the people have been caught in the middle as no one is ready to listen to their genuine demands.
Even SMC knowing all the mess on Bye-pass deliberately wants young kids and students to walk through main bye-pass by putting their lives at risk to allow influential business men to use motorways for their business purposes.
Now the car showrooms have started to sneak into the colonies alongside the Bye pass colonies particularly “Shah Anwar Colony” which is worst hit. I wonder on one hand the SMC says that it will not allow opening of business establishments and schools to run in the colonies and on the other hand it shuts eyes while seeing such establishments for obvious reasons.
The officers in various departments seem to be working with no accountability. What does government wants to prove by handcuffing a petty government servant for accepting bribe of 500-1000? What about big fishes who receive kickbacks in lakhs? . This has given rise in corruption in the state and by making scapegoats goats of ordinary employees for just Rs 500 note bribe. This will not stop corruption in the offices at the higher level.
I wonder why gross violation by the influential or those having nexus with ministers or bureaucrats go unnoticed and this is the reason that the administration has failed to acquire land for IIM and IIT as they are in league with the land grabbers and a land-grabber cannot be a layman unless he has patronage of top hierarchy.
No minister or bureaucrat can befool the public with their press statements that too controversial as people are intelligent enough to understand their game plan towards Kashmir valley. The similar institutions were sanctioned for Jammu as well but the irony for the government is that such institutions have long back started functioning in Jammu, though opening of such institutions in both the regions was ordered jointly.
