SrinagarPolice on Thursday recovered a throat-slit body of a Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) activist under mysterious conditions at Kiloora area of south Kashmirs Shopian district.
Body of Gowhar Ahmad Bhat s/o Mohammad Auob Bhat, BJP Youth President Shopian, was recovered today evening at Kiloora with visible torture marks on body parts, official sources said.
SSP Shopian Shri Ram while confirming the incident said that they have launched investigation to ascertain the cause of death.
“He said that they are verifying whether the deceased is affiliated to any political party or not”, SSP said.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the killing. She has expressed condolences with the bereaved family. She has appealed all sections of society to come forward to end this cycle of violence in the State.
