SrinagarTwo Army jawans and a militant were killed during an encounter that broke out on Thursday in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, police said.
According to the sources, two militants more are believed to be trapped at the encounter site.
“Two army men wounded in the exchange of fire succumbed at a hospital,” said a police official.
He said the identity of the militant would be established once the security forces are able to take its custody
Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Samboora village of Pampore area this evening following information about the presence of some militants there, officials said.
He said that a joint team of armys 50 RR, SOG and CRPF acting on a tip off cordoned off the village.
As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area opened fire triggering off an encounter. When reports last came in the intermittent exchange of firing was going on.
