Srinagar Department of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with the Commercial Taxes Department (CTD) Kashmir Saturday organized a special familiarization session on Goods and Services Tax (GST) for newspaper managements at the Media Complex here.
Director Information, Muneer-ul-Islam, Joint Director (HQ), Abdul Majid Zargar, Joint Director Information Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, officers of CTD and representatives of various media organizations were present on the occasion.
A team of officers from the Commercial Taxes Department comprising Dr Bashir Ahmad and Sarib Sehran, Commercial Taxes Officers gave a detailed presentation on various dimensions of Goods and Services Tax and held an interactive session with the representatives from the newspapers regarding the settlement of advertisement bills and import of newsprint under GST regime.
The session was held to generate awareness about various aspects of GST including registration, tax structure, the filing of monthly, quarterly returns and penalties in case of default by the newspapers.
The session was designed to address the queries and doubts of newspapers owners and Drawing and Disbursing Officers of the department with regard to different provisions of GST Act.
The newspaper managements hailed DIPR and CTD for organizing the exhaustive session regarding GST.
Pertinently, last month a similar interactive session was organized by DIPR for the newspaper managements in Jammu.
