Tral (Pulwama)Unknown persons on Friday evening lobbed a grenade at the residence of a ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA in South Kashmir’s Tral sub-district, police said.
According to police, the grenade was hurled at the house of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah at Mokdam Mohalla area of Tral.
Soon after the attack, security guards present there retaliated with some gunshots in the air.
However, there was no damage done due to the explosion.
“It was a mysterious blast. The MLA was not present in the house at the time of the blast but his other members were there ,” a police official said.
This was the second attack on a PDP MLA in as many days in Kashmir. Unknown militants had hurled a grenade on the residence of Aijaz Ahmad Mir, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Wachi in Shopian district on Thursday. Earlier to that a PDP local leader was gunned down in Imamsahab Shopian. His house was later torched by a mob returning from the funeral of a militant.
