SrinagarJammu and Kashmir Bank Academy thrashed Rahim Greens Solina 5-0 in their super division fixture while premier division saw Iqbal Sports beat State Football Academy in State Football League 2017 played at Synthetic Turf TRC Ground, a statement from Jammu and Kashmir Football Association said on Friday.
Iqbal Sports defeated State Football Academy (SFA) by a solitary goal in the premier division fixture. Right from the start of the match, Iqbal Sports team played aggressive football and attacked the goal posts of opposite team frequently. Rayees breached the defence lines of SFA in the 7th minute, ensuring Iqbal Sports took an early lead in the match.
After conceding the lead the SFA players made several attempts in the first half to score an equaliser, but the defence lines of Iqbal Sports thwarted their attempts. The first half ended with Iqbal Sports leading 1-0. As the second half began, both the teams initially played defensive football but SFA showed some urgency in their bid to score an equaliser. However, they missed several opportunities to score and when the referee blew the final whistle, the score line read 1-0 in favour of Iqbal Sports. Rayees was declared man of the match for his performance.
In the Super Division match of the day, J&K Bank Academy thrashed Rahim Green Solina team by five goals to nil in a one sided encounter. Bank team dominated the match right from the start of the play and the helpless defenders of Solina team couldn’t match them. Sahil Bashir opened the account for the Bank in just 5th minute of the match and just five minutes later doubled the lead. Yasir Rafiq made it 3-0 for the Bank Academy in the 13th minute of the match while Sajid scored fourth goal in the 29th minute.
The Solina players tried their best to score, but the defence lines of Bank team repelled all their attempts. At the end of the first half, the score line read 4-0 in favour of the Bank. In second half, the Bank players were all over the ground and Sahil Banday scored the fifth goal ensuring a thumping victory for his team.
More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in State Football League-2017, a mega event, first of its kind in the history of J&K football. The aim of holding such a mega event is to unearth the hidden talent across the state.
While B-Division League of State Football League is already completed with IFC Nowgam winning the title, the A-Division League has reached to the final stage with Fort View FC and Novelty FC qualifying for final. In Super and Premier Division leagues, more than 60 percent matches have been completed. More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, the aim of which is to unearth the hidden talent across the State.
